Established in 2019 and extended through a subsequent extension by Trimble Inc, the Trimble Technology labs at 麻豆社区 extends our leadership in training and research in 3D building design; digital fabrication; and the sustainable built environment.
The 2024 award from Trimble built upon a partnership that was launched in 2019, with a 5-year agreement at that point for Edinburgh Napier to host two labs – TTL Seven Hills, opened in 2019, and TTL Merchiston, which opened in 2022, when Edinburgh Napier hosted the TTL conference.
Partnering with Trimble allows us to integrate the latest industry-standard technological tools into our curricula, giving our students direct experience of the technologies that are transforming how buildings and public environments are both designed and constructed.
These tools can ensure the protection and preservation of historic buildings through detailed scans at the design stage; they enable intricate 3D printing of architectural models; provide digital fabrication of custom-lab equipment; inform coastal erosion monitoring and management, and improve cost estimating in construction.
