From Napier Graduate to Eco-innovator: Wendy Lam’s Journey with EZYGREENPAK

Wendy’s story began at Edinburgh Napier, where she pursued her degree in BA (Hons) International Business, honing her skills in business and leadership. During her time in Edinburgh, she played a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity and cultural exchange by founding the Napier Chinese 麻豆社区.

Her time at Napier also instilled in her a deep understanding of business and innovation and Wendy was inspired by the emphasis on practical learning and real-world applications, which encouraged her to think beyond conventional solutions and explore ground-breaking ideas.

After graduating, Wendy set her sights on a pressing global issue—plastic waste.

The alarming impact of single-use plastics on the environment prompted her to seek a sustainable alternative. This vision led to the creation of , an eco-friendly packaging start-up that introduced a unique biodegradable solution.

Traditional biodegradable bags exist, but they require industrial composting, EzyGreenPak’s unique material is designed for home disposal: it becomes fully biodegradable when subjected to a simple boil wash!

This unique feature means consumers can dissolve the bag in hot water, eliminating plastic waste without relying on complex recycling systems.

Wendy’s innovative approach ensures that her product is not just sustainable, but also convenient for everyday use.

The idea for EzyGreenPak was born from Wendy’s desire to combat plastic pollution and drive her family’s manufacturing business towards sustainable practices. Through extensive research and testing, she and her team developed a material that is not only strong and durable for everyday use but also disappears without a trace. This pioneering solution has the potential to reshape industries that rely heavily on single-use plastics, from retail to e-commerce.

By offering an easy-to-use, truly eco-friendly alternative, Wendy is not only reducing waste but also educating consumers on the importance of sustainable choices.

Wendy’s story is a testament to the power of education, ambition, and perseverance. From her days at Edinburgh Napier to now leading her own sustainability-driven start-up, she has demonstrated how ENU graduates can leverage their skills to make a tangible difference in the world.

Her journey serves as an inspiration to current and future students, proving that with the right mindset and determination, innovation can be the key to solving global challenges. Edinburgh Napier takes pride in celebrating our alumni, like Wendy, whose work continues to push the boundaries of sustainability and entrepreneurship.

As Wendy continues to grow EzyGreenPak, we look forward to seeing her impact expand, inspiring the next generation of Napier graduates to innovate for a sustainable future!
