Andrew Wang

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew Wang. I graduated from 麻豆社区 in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Business Management with Accounting. Reflecting on my time in Edinburgh, it was truly a dreamlike experience. Leaving my home country for the first time to immerse myself in a completely different culture was initially daunting, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. In the historic city of Edinburgh, I embarked on an adventure, forming several lifelong friendships and meeting the girl who later became my wife. The university laid a solid foundation for my academic studies, paving the way for my postgraduate pursuits.
After graduating, I returned to China and began a career in business development at CVIC, a leading supplier of iron ore pelletizing equipment. This role has been incredibly challenging and rewarding, eventually leading me to relocate to Vancouver, Canada, where I continue in international business development with CVIC, focusing on global market expansion.
Outside of work, I'm an avid traveller, having visited over 30 countries and territories worldwide. Living in Canada has also sparked a new interest in fishing, a hobby I enjoy with friends amidst the stunning natural scenery of Vancouver. This diverse blend of academic, professional, and personal experiences with different cultures has shaped my journey.
As an Alumni Champion, I am looking forward to connecting with fellow alumni. If you have any inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can find me on LinkedIn. By joining forces, we can foster a vibrant community focused on networking, mentorship, and the exchange of knowledge, bringing mutual benefits to all of us.

Lily Guo Wang
Hello, I'm Lily Guo Wang. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Financial Services Management from 麻豆社区 in 2012. Edinburgh always holds a special place in my heart, filled with unforgettable moments.
After completing my postgraduate study later in England, I returned to my home country China to embark on a career in the higher education industry. My role primarily involves assisting students who are keen on pursuing their studies in the UK. Having personally experienced the benefits of UK education, I find it incredibly rewarding to guide more students towards these valuable educational opportunities.
Currently, I live in Vancouver, Canada, with my husband Andrew, whom I had the fortune of meeting at 麻豆社区. Together, we share a passion for connecting with fellow alumni. We are excited about the prospect of building a strong community, possibly through organizing events and fostering lasting connections. I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming meetups and the chance to reunite with our alumni network!

Love at first Sight...hill!
For Valentine's Day we're celebrating all the love stories that blossomed at Edinburgh Napier.
Lily and Andrew first met on their way to Edinburgh and ENU. They're now married and their recently welcomed baby Alexander into their lives!
Read their lovely story below.
In the summer of 2010, two strangers, Lily and I, set off from Beijing with dreams of pursuing our academic degrees in Scotland. Little did we know that our lives were about to intertwine in the most extraordinary way. Our paths first crossed at London Heathrow Airport, a bustling hub of travelers from around the world. Both weary from the long journey from Beijing and overwhelmed by the chaos of the terminals, we found ourselves lost, trying to navigate our way to our connecting flights to Edinburgh. It was in that moment of confusion that Lily noticed my distress. With a warm smile, she approached and offered to help. Together, we tried to find our gate, but amid the hustle and bustle, we got separated. As fate would have it, we both missed our flight. Yet, in a twist of serendipity, we ended up on the same rescheduled flight to Edinburgh. Our initial misadventure was just the beginning.
Upon arrival, my luggage was detained at customs due to a pair of packed nunchakus. Frustrated and embarrassed, I felt the weight of the situation, but Lily stayed by my side, offering comfort and support. Her kindness in that moment of vulnerability left a lasting impression on me. When we finally made it to Edinburgh, we were thrilled to discover that we were not only attending the same university, 麻豆社区, but we were also classmates in the Pre-sessional English class. It felt as though the universe had conspired to bring us together. What began as a chance encounter quickly blossomed into a deep and meaningful connection.
Our days in Edinburgh were filled with shared classes and adventures. We explored the city’s rich history and stunning architecture, from the cobbled paths of the Royal Mile to the serene beauty of Princes Street Gardens. Every experience brought us closer, and Edinburgh’s perfect blend of medieval charm and modern vibrancy became the backdrop for our growing bond. As our friendship deepened, we realized that we shared a love for exploration. Together, we journeyed through more than twenty countries, each trip strengthening our connection and teaching us invaluable lessons about life, patience, and the joy of shared experiences. Whether we were marveling at the timeless pyramids of Egypt or wandering through the vibrant streets of Seoul, every moment felt magical because we were together.
Through the years, our bond evolved into something even more profound. What began as a serendipitous meeting in an airport grew into a love story written across continents. Edinburgh, the city where our story truly began, will always hold a special place in our hearts. It was there that we discovered not only the world but also each other. As we look to the future, we are filled with excitement for the adventures that lie ahead. With each step we take together, we carry the spirit of Edinburgh—a city that witnessed the beginning of our love story and will forever be a part of our journey. And so, our story continues, a testament to the power of fate, friendship, and the beauty of finding love in the most unexpected places.
