Overview

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) – 8 Month Programme

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) pre-sessional courses are available for prospective postgraduate students. These courses improve your English language and academic study skills.

You can apply online for our year-long (September entry) or 8 month (January entry) programme. We also offer 4, 6 and 12 week courses which you can find out more about in our English language section.

In addition to classes, you'll be given an opportunity to immerse yourself in Edinburgh and Scotland’s culture through visits to tourist attractions and historic sites.

We'll also provide you with practical help to settle into life in a new city.

Pre-sessional courses are designed to suit a range of abilities.

Eight-month pre-sessional course

 

Offer for a degree course at + IELTS 4.5 with no skill below 4.5

Students on the 8-month English language programme will receive two Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) letters - one for the English language course and one for their degree programme (on the assumption of passing the 麻豆社区 language exam). You will be expected to hold the academic entry requirements for your degree programme at the start of the 8-month English language programme.

You can apply online for the 8-month course.

We also offer 4, 6 and 12 week pre-sessional English language courses throughout the year, as well in-session English study support classes.

What are the entry requirements for English as a Foreign Language?

Our entry requirements indicate both Standard and Minimum qualifications with which we normally accept students. Competition for places varies from year to year and you aren't guaranteed a place if you meet the minimum qualifications.

Please note that international students are unable to enrol onto the following courses:
  • BM Midwifery/MM Midwifery
  • All Graduate Apprenticeship courses.
