How it works
The Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) programme is an alternative route to Higher Education and an exciting opportunity for you as an organisation and for your current employees and new starts. Developed in partnership with Scottish businesses and Skills Development Scotland to address key skills gaps in industry, GAs are a great way to upskill current employees or attract the best new talent in your industry.
Below are some of the key facts about the programme to give you a better understanding of how it works and how you can be involved.
Graduate Apprentices spend on average 80% of their weekly hours in the workplace and 20% at university.
The next start date is September 2019.
Entry requirements are flexible and take into account relevant work experience.
A Graduate Apprenticeship degree is the same qualification gained by full-time on campus undergraduate students.
Depending on the course, the delivery method can be either day release or block release (please check for details).
We offer flexible entry and exit points - maximum length of degree is 4 years.
Places are funded through the Apprenticeship Levy and so there are no fees to pay for you as an employer or for the Graduate Apprentice.
You do not have to pay the Apprenticeship Levy in order to be eligible and we work with organisations of all sizes.
The Graduate Apprentice must live and work in Scotland.
Applicants can either be existing employees or new starts.
We will support you when hiring new employees recruited to take up places on a Graduate Apprenticeship programme.
Graduate Apprentices are mentored in the workplace and at university.
How you can get involved
We allocate places to employers rather than applicants. Therefore, the first step is to express your interest in the programme and a member of our team will contact you to set up an initial explorative discussion.
We鈥檒l talk you through the process, how the applications work and discuss what we鈥檇 be looking for from you as an employer, as well as outlining all the support we offer.
Registering your interest
Please get in touch to find out more or to register your interest for any of our current programmes or our NEW frameworks in BSc (Hons) Data Science and BEng (Hons) Engineering: Design and Manufacture, currently in development for September 2019. We start to allocate places around January, but please note numbers are limited and demand is high. We also operate a reserve list once the initial places are filled and work to ensure we offer as many places as possible across a broad range of organisations.
