Biography

Dr Wegene Demeke, PhD, MSc, BEng (Hons), FHEA is a researcher and lecturer in Information Systems in the School of Computing at Â鶹ÉçÇø.

Demeke’s main research interest lies in the application of ICT in business and social context. How ICTs are adopted and used by individuals and organisations in different contexts and the impact ICT has created on all stakeholders. Demeke holds a PhD in information management, from the University of West London in 2014, with the focus on the factors that affect the adoption and use of ICT in the hotel sector in Ethiopia. He taught in various UK Universities such as Brunel University, Cardiff Metropolitan, and at Bucks New University before being appointed lecturer in the creative social informatics group at Â鶹ÉçÇø. He has published his research outputs in journals such as Aslib and Libri. He has experience of supervising students at undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a journal reviewer for the JIIS, AJAR and for the Digital Policy, Regulation and Governance journals.
His current projects include investigating on how ICT can assist in improving health outcomes for communities living in remote parts of Ethiopia.

He teaches in the information systems group in the area of Information systems and related areas.

Demeke is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
