The Malayan Tiger Documentary Selected for AVIFF Cannes Art Film Festival
The documentary The Malayan Tiger: It鈥檚 Now or Never! has been selected to compete at the prestigious AVIFF Cannes Art Film Festival. Directed by Malaysian filmmaker Raja Mohamad Amin Raja Azhar and written by Taylor's University Associate Professor Joe Qiao Li, the film highlights the urgent challenges in protecting the endangered Malayan tiger, a species on the brink of extinction. The documentary follows Malaysian forest rangers as they battle poaching and work towards conservation efforts in Taman Negara.
The documentary, commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, was selected to showcase the vital importance of tiger conservation on an international stage. The AVIFF Cannes exhibition, renowned for promoting contemporary art from emerging markets, will provide a platform for this important issue. Additionally, Professor Joe Qiao Li, also an award-winning filmmaker, has been invited as a jury member for the upcoming festival.
