Design & Evaluation of a New Vertical Axis Wind Turbine
This project is phase 4 of a new concept of a vertical axis wind turbine, IRIS. One of its unique features of controlling the wind flow entering the system leads to many engineering challenges. It uses combination of 6 guiding vanes with varying geometry funnels, leading to a continuously changing volume, direction & angle of impact of the wind to the rotor blades. Moreover, incoming wind usually flows in an arbitrarily fashion. The main aim of this project is to identify the best design parameters for prototype construction, testing and validation of the new device
