Truth-telling & reparations in context of deinstitutionalisation for people with disabilities with Dr Linda Steele – April 2024

Dr Steele, Associate Professor from University of Technology Sydney, joined the Centre for a presentation on for development of a Disability Truth and Repair Framework to support future design and critical evaluation of truth commissions on disability institutions.

 

ECHR and CRPD:  Irreconcilable Tensions? A presentation from Visiting Professor Peter Bartlett, University of Nottingham.

Professor Bartlett is Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Professor of Mental Health Law with University of Nottingham School of Law. Professor Bartlett discussed the application of the European Convention on Human Rights to people with mental disabilities, and the application of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to people with mental disabilities.

This public engagement event held by the research team at 麻豆社区, ENRICH Scotland and NHS Lothian at COSLA shared the findings from the ‘Listening Chair research about care home staff retention and wellbeing at work.' Attendees were invited to offer feedback and perspectives about the research and consider its application to care home practice.
