Biography

Dr Renata Osowska graduated in business management at the University of Wroclaw (Poland) with an MSc in Public Administration. She also studied law at Christian Albrecht’s University in Kiel, Germany (Erasmus Scholarship) before moving to Scotland where she completed her fully funded PhD in Entrepreneurship at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). She also completed PgCert in Business Research Methods (UWS, Scotland), PgCert in Learning and Teaching in HE and PgCert in Blended and Online Education (ENU, Scotland).

Renata is an internationally awarded researcher in entrepreneurship and small business development specialising in investigating the influence of culture and socio-economic environment on entrepreneurial behaviour, including entrepreneurial mobility and society. She is a Research Lead and dissertations coordinator for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group and a Deputy Research Degrees Lead at the Business School. She acts as a school representative at the Academic Board and recently she was appointed as REF2029 PCE co-lead for the School. Renata currently supervises two Ph.D. candidates (having already supervised candidates to completion) and is keen to hear from anyone interested in undertaking doctoral study within her areas of interest.

Renata has extensive teaching experience in F2F, blended, online and TNE education. Currently, she is a module leader for the Ug Exploring Entrepreneurship module and programme leader for BA Business & Enterprise (online). Previous to lecturing at ENU, she worked in different industries in Poland, Germany, Ireland and England before taking the role of an associate lecturer at the UWS, teaching various topics on entrepreneurship and business research methods.

Renata is a Senior Fellow of the HEA, RSA Fellow and a member of various academic organisations. She is the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Country (ESCB) Vice President for the UK, Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurship in Minority Groups SIG executive member and an Associate Editor for Entrepreneurial Business and Economics Review (EBER). She also co-founded the Small Business and Enterprise Research Group (SBERG) at Napier and
co-leads Business Innovation and Future Workforce theme at Centre for Business Innovations and Sustainable Solutions (CBISS).
