Developing Higher Education Educators’ AI Literacy - An Experiential Learning Method
In the wake of the rapid rise of Generative AI (GAI) since the end of 2022, this paper focuses on the rapidly emerging need to upskill academics working in higher education (HE) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and more broadly integrate AI literacy into HE teaching and learning. The paper also serves as a response to the UK’s Russell Group’s (2023) principles on AI and seeks to have an impact by combining the latest research on AI literacy with practical steps a HE institution can take to equip its educators with AI literacy. The approach presented in the paper is based on a pilot of using GAI for learning content redesign in a Scottish Business School.
